[V1.69] QRD Ferrox M5 Firmware Version 1.69 Release
QRD FERROX M5 Firmware V1.69 Update Guide
This update is recommended for users who experience connection instability, host recognition issues, or reconnection problems when using QRD FERROX M5 with the included 2.4GHz USB Dongle.
1. What This Firmware Improves
This release focuses on improving the connection logic between the controller, USB Dongle, Xbox consoles, and Windows PCs.
Main improvements include:
- More stable 2.4GHz USB Dongle connection
- Improved auto reconnection after standby
- Optimized power-off behavior
- Xbox and PC recognition optimization
- Confirmed separate update process for controller and USB Dongle
2. Key Update: Xbox and PC Recognition Optimization
If the controller connects through the USB Dongle but the Xbox console or PC does not recognize it consistently, this firmware supports switching the compatibility key group.
After the controller is connected through the USB Dongle, press and hold:
- A + X + LB for 3 seconds
The controller will vibrate once. The USB Dongle may briefly flash, and the host device may show a short disconnect and reconnect. This is normal during compatibility key-group switching.
If recognition is still unstable, repeat the key-group switch once or twice, then wait for the controller and dongle indicators to return to a steady light.
3. Firmware Update Requirements
Before updating, prepare:
- Windows PC
- QRD FERROX M5 controller
- Original QRD USB-C cable
- Controller firmware tool
4. Update Process
- Open the controller firmware tool on a Windows PC.
- Make sure the controller is powered off.
- Press and hold the Y button.
- While holding Y, connect the controller to the PC using a USB data cable.
- Wait until the firmware tool shows READY.
- Click Update.
- Wait until the tool displays Successful (offline).
- Disconnect the controller after the update is complete.
5. Important Notes
- Update both Controller Firmware V1.69 and USB Dongle Firmware V1.35.
- Use Windows 10 or later.
- Do not disconnect the controller or USB Dongle during update.
- Use a USB data cable, not a charge-only cable.
- If the controller does not reconnect automatically after updating, pair the controller and USB Dongle again.
- *Important: The controller and USB Dongle must be updated separately.
